Angola Black Granite
Angola Black granite is the internationally recognised name of ‘Black Mingue’ granite quarried in Lubango, Angola1. You may also hear this granite referred to as Nero Angola. Geologically this rock is an anorthosite of the Precambrian period. As the name suggests the core colour of this granite is black.
The feature which stands out the most about this medium grained stone is the abundance of flecks across its surface. This makes it an ideal granite for those wanting a black granite with some texture to the stone. The reason for these flecks is due to the granite containing labradorite2 and feldspar3. On close inspection, the flecks are dark grey in colour. Another beautiful feature of this granite is how the crystalline contained within its structure glimmers when it meets light.
Below you can see how this all comes together in the form of an Angola Black granite slab.
This black granite can be used in a variety of applications. From bathroom vanity units and kitchen worktops. To round black granite dining tables and flooring.
Angola Black granite provides a high degree of both beauty and durability. It complements a range of design schemes. And is equally stunning matched with more traditional white and beige décor (such as white marble tiles) all the way through to more colourful greens, yellows and reds. Whether it is used as a worktop, cladding, or the top on an oak or walnut coffee table, choosing Angola Black will give you a bold, durable and beautiful granite which will delight you for decades to come.
